The Inflation Reduction Act (IRA) was signed in August and included legislation to reduce the emissions of greenhouse gasses and move toward cleaner energy. As the most significant federal legislation for climate change and clean energy, the IRA will offer tax credits and rebates to homeowners who make energy-efficient upgrades to their homes, including heating and cooling systems. If your system is 10 years or older or simply can’t keep up, this is the perfect opportunity to upgrade your equipment to a more efficient setup. Learn more about the IRA and what it means for homeowners with these incentives.
The New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA) offers incentives for homeowners and businesses in the state to upgrade to energy efficient appliances, including furnaces. These incentives can help offset the initial cost of purchasing a new furnace and can also lead to long-term savings on energy bills. To be eligible for these incentives, the furnace must meet certain energy efficiency standards and be installed by a NYSERDA-approved contractor. It's worth checking to see if you are eligible for these incentives before making a decision on a new furnace, as they can significantly reduce the upfront cost and make the investment more financially viable.
Energy Star is a program run by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) that promotes energy efficiency in household appliances and products. If you purchase a heating and cooling system that is certified by Energy Star, you may be eligible for incentives and rebates from your local utility company or state energy agency. These incentives can help offset the cost of purchasing a new, energy efficient system and can also lead to long-term savings on energy bills. In order to be eligible for these incentives, the heating and cooling system must meet certain energy efficiency standards set by the EPA. It's worth checking to see if you are eligible for these incentives before making a decision on a new heating and cooling system, as they can significantly reduce the upfront cost and make the investment more financially viable.
